Portland, Maine- Sea Dogs infielder Ryan Fitgerald hit a go-ahead two-run double in the sixth inning leading Portland past the Yard Goats 4-3 at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. Sea Dogs starter Josh Winckowski worked six solid innings, allowed just two runs, and picked up the win, ending the Yard Goats three-game win-streak. Outfielder Manny Melendez cranked a two-run homer to give the Yard Goats the lead in the second inning. Hartford starter Ryan Feltner pitched well in a quality start and allowed just three runs in six innings with five strikeouts.

The Yard Goats took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on Manny Melendez’ two-run homer off Portland starter Josh Winckowski. Willie Abreu led off the inning with a single, stole second base and took third base on a passed ball. Then Melendez connected on his fifth homer of the season, a liner into the right field seats.

The Sea Dogs got a run on two-out single by Red Sox prospect Tristan Casas in the third inning off Hartford starter Ryan Felter, to make it a 2-1 game. Feltner retired eight of nine before the Sea Dogs got a run, and then pitched around a double in the fourth inning. He retired the side in order in the fifth. However, Portland would build another two-out rally in the sixth inning. Hudson Potts singled and Ronaldo Hernandez hit a wall-scraping double putting runners at second and third. Next Ryan Fitgerald doubled to right and cleared the bases, giving Portland a 3-2 lead.

Portland added a run in the eighth inning as Joey Maneses cranked a solo home run. The Yard Goats got a run in the ninth inning to make it 4-3 on Jameson Hannah’s sac fly. However Zach Kelly retired the final batter with Jose Gomez at second base for the save.
