Crawdads’ Bats Drive Victory Over Greenville

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads bats came alive on Wednesday night as they put up 11 runs in a shutout victory over the Greenville Drive.

The Crawdads erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the second. Cristian Inoa led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a single by Keyber Rodriguez. Chris Seise grounded out to first but was able to move Rodriguez to second. Cody Freeman singled to left to send in Inoa and Rodriguez while Freeman took second. Freeman got himself to third with his first steal of the season. Frainyer Chavez singled to left to score Freeman. Chavez stole second and moved up to third on a single by Angel Aponte. Aponte stole second before Evan Carter drew a walk on a wild pitch that scored Chavez and sent Aponte to third. Carter stole the fourth base of the inning. Aaron Zavala cleared the bases with a three-run homer to right, his first homerun of the season.

The ‘Dads tacked on another run in the fourth to pull ahead 8-0. Zavala singled to right and stole his fourth base of the year to get into scoring position. Inoa singled to left and drove in Zavala.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Crawdads were able to add on three more runs. Randy Florentino, pinch-hitting for Cristian Inoa, and Rodriguez singled to put two aboard. Chris Seise drove his third homerun of the season to left field to give the ‘Dads an 11-0 advantage.

On the mound for the Crawdads, Ben Anderson started the game with five scoreless innings. John Matthews came in for three innings and Joe Corbett finished off the shutout with a scoreless ninth inning.

The series continues tomorrow evening with Tribute to Pop. It is also Thirsty Thursday presented by Fyreside Taproom and Focus News and fans can enjoy discounted beer and Pepsi products.
