Hickory, NC- The Crawdads came back from a five-run deficit on Saturday night against the Grasshoppers but they were unable to pull out the victory, falling 7-5 to Greensboro.

Greensboro struck first, getting a run across in the second. They scored four more in the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead.

The ‘Dads chipped away at the lead, getting a pair of runs in the fourth. Blaine Crim started the rally with a deep single off the right field wall. David Garcia followed up with a single of his own. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Miguel Aparicio hit a grounder into the shift but Crim was able to score without a throw.

The Crawdads completed the comeback in the fifth, scoring three more to tie the game at 5. Jonathan Ornelas singled to left and moved up to second on a wild pitch. Kellen Strahm singled to center and brought Ornelas in to score. Blaine Crim sent a homerun over the left field fence to even the score. The homer was Crim’s second in as many days.

The stalemate lasted until the 10th inning when the Grasshoppers got two runs off of catcher Scott Kapers, who had come in to pitch.

The homestand will wrap up tomorrow afternoon with a 3pm first pitch. It will be Church Bulletin Sunday presented by Catawba Shoe Store. Fans can bring a church bulletin for a discounted $6 ticket. The ‘Dads will then donate $4 back to that bulletin’s respective church. Little league members can also stop by a local Sheetz for a free ticket to the game as part of Little League Sunday.
