Harris Homer Not Enough as ‘Dads Drop Opener

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads were unable to hold onto an early lead, ultimately dropping the series opener to the Winston-Salem Dash 13-2.

The Crawdads came out of the gate strong, taking a 2-0 lead. Trevor Hauver drew a walk to get on base for Dustin Harris. Harris hit a homerun that just stayed fair down the right field line to give the ‘Dads an advantage.

The score tilted the other way as the Dash scored three in the fourth off ‘Dads starter Justin Slaten. He finished his evening after the fifth, striking out seven, walking none, and allowing seven hits.

Lefty Grant Wolfram entered the game in the sixth and allowed a run to make the score 4-2. Wolfram pitched a scoreless seventh before Sean Chandler gave up a run in the eighth. The game slipped out of reach for the Crawdads as Jean Casanova allowed eight in the ninth, recording just one out. Designated hitter Trey Hair entered the game to record the final two outs of the inning.

The Crawdads went quietly in the bottom of the ninth, falling 13-2.

Tomorrow night will be a doubleheader starting at 5pm. The second game will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. The same ticket will be good for both games, which will each be seven innings. Thursday is Famous Detectives Night and fans can dress as their favorite detective for a discounted $6 ticket. It is also Thirsty Thursday, presented by Sheetz and Focus News, which means that beer and Pepsi products will be discounted and Sheetz members can get a $6 ticket. As part of People’s Bank Thursday, fans can also show their membership card for a discounted $6 ticket.
