The Hillsboro Hops defeated the Tri-City Dust Devils 5-3 after the game was called leading into the bottom of the eighth inning. Despite two attempts, the Hops and Dust Devils were not able to complete nine innings of Saturday's game. June 12th marked the first time the Hops had to postpone a game at home in their time in Hillsboro (2013). June 13th marked the first rain out at home during that span.

Hillsboro was trailing 2-1 in the top of the fifth before the game was postponed due to inclement weather. Play resumed Sunday at 12:05 pm and the Hops came out of the gate hot, earning their third win of the series.

Drey Jameson got the start for the Hops and was countered by Zach Linginfelter. The Dust Devils got off to an early lead in the top of the first on a leadoff homer by Brendon Davis . The lead wouldn't last long as the Hops quickly loaded the bases on a leadoff double by Adam Kennedy and back-to-back walks. Tristin English was then doubled up on a hard-hit ground ball up the middle right into the shift, yet it tied the game 1-1.

Jameson and Linginfelter traded zeros over the second and third. As rainfall began to increase, Tri-City regained the lead 2-1 on an RBI (run batted in) single by Spencer Griffin . Jameson ran into trouble again in the top of the fifth despite recording back-to-back strike outs to start the inning. The Dust Devils loaded the bases on a single, hit by pitch, and a walk. That would be all for Jameson's night and play was not able to resume after Blake Workman warmed up to come into the game.

When play resumed Sunday, Workman came back to the mound in a tough spot with the bases loaded and two outs, down a run. The big right-hander delivered, forcing Francisco Del Valle to pop out to retire the side.

The Hops didn't waste any time in their half of the fifth. Spencer Brickhouse led off with a triple and Reece Hampton walked to put runners on at first and third. Cam Coursey tied it up 2-2 on a sacrifice fly to left field. Hampton kept the pressure on, stealing second and then advanced to third base on a throwing error by Dust Devils catcher Ty Greene . Now with two outs, Blaze Alexander came through in the clutch with an RBI single to center field.

Tri-City immediately fought back and tied the game 3-3 on an RBI single by Franklin Torres . Workman was able to limit the damage to just a run and pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the Hops.

Rain started pouring again in the later innings and the Dust Devils defense got sloppy. Hampton led off the bottom of the seventh with a triple. After Coursey grounded out, Kennedy popped it up to left field and Del Valle couldn't come up with it. The miscued play allowed Hampton to come into score and Kennedy to reach second base. Tri-City reliever Cristopher Molina began to struggle with his command, walking Alexander and Andy Yerzy to load the bases. That would be all for Molina and Luis Ramirez came out of the pen to the bases loaded and one out. English drew a walk that brought in Kennedy for the game's final run.

Nick Snyder pitched himself in and out of a bases loaded jam to end the top of the eighth. Leading into the bottom of the frame, play would not be able to resume, and the game was officially called a 5-3 victory for the Hops.

The Hillsboro Hops (16-18) will travel to face the Eugene Emeralds on Tuesday for the first of a six-game series. The game will air live on Rip City Radio 620 AM with pregame coverage beginning at 6:50 pm. First pitch will be at 7:05 pm.
