Drillers Notch 18 Hits to Sweep Series
TULSA, Okla. - Five Drillers recorded three hits Tuesday night as Tulsa swept the Hooks with a 9-3 victory at ONEOK Field.
The Drillers, who went 5-1 on their home stand, scored three times in the first against Ruben Alaniz (0-1).
Christian Bergman (1-0) held Corpus Christi (7-5) in check, yielding just two hits thru 5.1 innings. The 2012 California League Pitcher of the Year walked two and fanned five, lowering his ERA to 0.54.
With Tulsa (6-6) on top 4-0 in the sixth, Joey Wong belted a three-run home run to right off Matt Heidenreich. Heidenreich surrendered two more long balls in the seventh, solo shots by Kyle Parker and Jason Langfels.
Rene Garcia put the Hooks on the board in the sixth with a two-run poke to left field. It was his first home run since the 2011 season. George Springer provided the final Corpus Christi salvo in the seventh, a no-doubt blast to right-center.
The Hooks open a four-game home stand against Frisco Thursday night. Jake Buchanan (1-0) and Carlos Quevedo face Neil Ramirez (1-0).
