Hooks to Honor Universal All-Stars Sunday

CORPUS CHRISTI - The Universal Little League All-Stars, who returned yesterday from the 2013 Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., will be honored by the Corpus Christi Hooks in pregame ceremonies Sunday evening.

The Hooks face San Antonio Sunday at 6:05 and Whataburger Field gates open at 4:30.

Universal captured the Southwest Region title in Waco on August 7, defeating Fairacres, N.M., Little League.

The club was eliminated from championship contention August 17 after losses to Eastlake LL (Sammamish, Wash.) and South Nashville (Tenn.) LL. Universal then won exhibition contests vs. teams from Perth, Australia and Ottawa, Ontario.

"What a delight for our organization and fans to honor this special group," Hooks president Ken Schrom said. "There may be other all-star teams from Corpus Christi who advance to Williamsport in the future… but these guys were the first."
