Captains of the Week (8/18-8/23/26): Harrison Bodendorf & Cannon Peebles

EASTLAKE, Ohio – For the week of Aug. 18-23, the Lake County Captains are recognizing LHP Harrison Bodendorf and C Cannon Peebles as the 21st set of Captains of the Week for the 2026 season for their impressive showings against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

HARRISON BODENDORF, LHP

Bodendorf made an impressive start for the Captains this past week against Wisconsin.

On Thursday, Aug. 20, the left-hander threw five strikeouts across 4.2 scoreless innings of work in a 10-1 Captains victory, allowing just two hits and walking three.

Bodendorf was promoted to the Captains from the Single-A Hill City Howlers on July 12. The Temecula, California native has made six starts for Lake County, going 0-2 with a 5.04 ERA and 23 strikeouts to 16 walks in 25 innings pitched. The 22-year-old made his pro debut for Hill City earlier this season, logging a 2.35 ERA, 43 strikeouts to just 14 walks, and a .178 opposing batting average in 30.2 innings pitched across seven appearances (six starts).

Bodendorf was selected by the Cleveland Guardians in the 10th round of the 2025 MLB Draft out of Oklahoma State, where he was named the 2025 Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Year and was teammates with former Captains 1B/OF Nolan Schubart. Prior to his 2025 campaign with the Cowboys, Bodendorf spent his previous two college seasons at Hawai’i, where he earned First Team All-Big West honors as a freshman in 2023.

CANNON PEEBLES, C

Peebles had a productive series at the plate against Wisconsin this past week.

The 22-year-old led Lake County with 12 total bases in just four games played, tying the team lead with three doubles. He batted .400 with six hits, one home run, four RBI, three walks, and a 1.300 OPS, while also catching three Timber Rattlers runners stealing in three games behind the plate defensively.

Peebles hit safely in each of his four games played this past week against Wisconsin, including a pair of two-RBI performances on Tuesday, Aug. 18 and Saturday, Aug. 21, as well as a pro career-high two doubles on Sunday, Aug. 23.

Peebles was promoted to the Captains from the Single-A Hill City Howlers on July 28. The Ashland, Virginia native has played 15 games for Lake County this season, batting .217 with 10 hits, three doubles, two home runs, five RBI, 14 walks, and a .410 on-base percentage. He also batted .214 with 46 hits, 14 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 35 RBI, 55 walks, and a .778 OPS in 63 games for the Howlers this year.

Peebles was selected by the Cleveland Guardians in the 17th round of the 2025 MLB Draft out of Tennessee, where he was teammates with former Captains INF Dean Curley for two seasons. He was also teammates with former Captains C Jacob Cozart at North Carolina State in 2023. Shortly after being drafted, Peebles made his pro debut for the 2025 Single-A Carolina League Champion Lynchburg Hillcats (now Hill City Howlers), batting .276 with eight hits in eight games during the 2025 regular season. The switch hitter then played a critical role in Lynchburg’s 2025 Carolina League Championship run, batting .368 with seven hits, two doubles, four RBI, and an .842 OPS in four games during the 2025 Carolina League Playoffs.

After an off day on Monday, Aug. 24, Lake County will continue a 12-game road trip with a six-game series against the Cedar Rapids Kernels. First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 7:35 p.m. from Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

After their two-week road trip, the Captains will return to Eastlake for their final series of the 2026 regular season versus the Great Lakes Loons. First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 6:35 p.m. from Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake.
