Captains Welcome Lugnuts for Second Home Series of 2024 Season

Lake County and Lansing are set to play the first six games of their 18-game regular-season series this week.

EASTLAKE, OH – The Lake County Captains (4-4) will host the Lansing Lugnuts (3-6), the High-A Affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, this Tuesday through Sunday at Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake.

The Captains are currently tied for third in the Midwest League East standings with Fort Wayne, and are 1.5 games behind first-place Great Lakes. The Lugnuts are tied with West Michigan for fifth in the Midwest League East, and are three games out of first place.

Last Series in Review

  • Lake County went 2-3 against the Fort Wayne TinCaps from April 9-14. The games originally scheduled for April 10 and April 11 were rained out, with the April 10 game being made up as part of a doubleheader on April 13.
  • The Captains won the first two games of the series 7-2 and 7-6, before falling in the final three games in tight fashion by just five combined runs.
  • In the first game of the series, Lake County hit 4 home runs, its most in a game since August 14, 2022, when they hit 5 home runs versus Fort Wayne. Messick has thrown 68.4% of his pitches for strikes, and most recently allowed one run in 4.2 innings of work on April 13 at Fort Wayne.
  • INF Alex Mooney hit safely in all four games he played against Fort Wayne, batting .316 (5-for-14) with 2 home runs and 5 RBI against the TinCaps. Mooney’s two long balls in this series mark the first two home runs of his professional career.
  • C Cooper Ingle is batting .389 (7-for-18) with 3 doubles and 6 RBI in five games played this season. Ingle sports an .833 batting average and 6 RBI with runners in scoring position, the sixth-most in the Midwest League. He is a perfect 3-for-3 with RISP when there are two outs.

  • OF Cameron Masterman has clubbed four doubles, which are tied for the second-most in the Midwest League.
  • RHP Mitch Myers has made two appearances (one start), posting a 2.70 ERA with a team-high 11 strikeouts across 6.2 innings of work. After starting 21 of 23 games for the Lugnuts in 2023, he threw 3 shutout innings of relief in his 2024 debut on April 5 at Dayton.
  • OF Henry Bolte (No. 11 Oakland prospect) is batting .194 (6-for-31) with 1 home run and 6 RBI in eight games played this season. At Single-A Stockton in 2023, Bolte belted 14 home runs and knocked in 68 runs.
