2012 All-PCL Team Announced

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Pacific Coast League today announced the 2012 All-PCL Team, as elected by the league's field managers and media representatives, led by a league-most four players from the Albuquerque Isotopes.

The elected infield features Colorado Springs' Matt McBride at first base, Reno's Jake Elmore and Ryan Wheeler at second base and third base respectively, and Adeiny Hechavarria of Las Vegas at shortstop. McBride leads all first basemen with a .541 slugging percentage, while Wheeler's 90 RBI are the best at third base. Tim Federowicz represents Albuquerque at catcher with a .296 average, and his teammate Jerry Sands was voted as the designated hitter, thanks in part to his PCL-leading 103 RBI.

The outfield is led by Reno's Adam Eaton, who leads the league in batting (.379), hits (181), doubles (44), runs scored (117), and stolen bases (37). Andrew Brown of Colorado Springs and Wil Myers were also elected, as Brown has knocked in 98 runs this year while the 21-year-old Myers has 22 home runs in just 92 games.

On the mound, the league voted for Albuquerque's John Ely from the right side and Omaha's Ryan Verdugo from the left side. Ely, 14-7 with a 3.10 ERA, leads the league in wins and strikeouts (162), while Verdugo, 12-3 with a 3.37 ERA, has won his last five starts and has only one loss in his last eleven. Josh Wall of Albuquerque was voted as the All-PCL relief pitcher, as he has appeared in 53 games while notching a league-best 27 saves.

Albuquerque's four representatives is the most in the league, as their top players have helped them to lead the American Southern division. Reno had three players voted to the team, which has contributed to them keeping a tight lead in the playoff race in the Pacific Northern division over Colorado Springs, who is represented by two players of their own. Omaha also has two players on the All-PCL team, both of whom have helped the Storm Chasers to lock up the American Northern division as they look to defend last year's championship. Finally, Las Vegas' lone representative is the only player named to the team from the Pacific Southern division.

Elmore, Wheeler, Eaton, Myers, Verdugo, and Wall make the total number six for first-year Triple-A players on the All-PCL team, while Federowicz, McBride, Elmore, Wheeler, Hechavarria, Eaton, Myers, Ely, Verdugo, and Wall all represented the PCL in the Triple-A All-Star Game in July.
