Aces Split Doubleheader With Nashville

May 14, 2012
NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Jake Elmore reached safely in all six of his plate appearances Monday night, as the Reno Aces split a doubleheader with the Nashville Sounds at Herschel Greer Stadium.

Reno was blanked 5-0 in the opener, but rallied for a 5-1 victory in the nightcap.

In game two of the double-dip, the Aces pushed across three runs in the first inning and never trailed. Spot starter Taylor Sinclair held the Sounds to just a run over 2.2 innings of work in his Triple-A debut, and four Reno relievers limited Nashville to no runs and just three hits over the game's final 4.1 frames. Mike DeMark (3-2) earned the victory out of the bullpen, and Nashville's Seth McClung (0-4) took the loss. Elmore singled twice and drew a walk, and David Winfree hit his first home run of the season.

In the opener, the Aces were limited to just three hits-two off the bat of Cole Gillespie. Elmore doubled and drew a pair of walks, accounting for the rest of Reno's offense in the game. Charles Brewer (1-3) took the loss, surrendering five runs on 13 hits over all six innings in a complete-game effort. The win went to Sounds starter Michael Fiers (1-2), who dealt seven scoreless frames.

The Aces and Sounds wrap-up this four-game series Tuesday morning at Herschel Greer Stadium. LHP Zach Kroenke (3-1, 5.23 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while Nashville will counter with RHP Mark Rogers (0-2, 4.03 ERA). First pitch is set for 9:05 a.m. PT, and the action can be heard live on Fox Sports 630 AM or by visiting RenoAces.com.
