Austin Wood named MWL Pitcher of the Week

Cedar Rapids, IA - Kernels pitcher Austin Wood has been named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the period April 5-15. The announcement was made through the Midwest League Office and Baseball Advanced Media.

In two starts, Wood allowed one run on just four hits, walked three and struck out 15 over 10 IP. In that period he had two wins and a 0.90 ERA. He is scheduled to take the mound tonight in the Kernels series opener at Peoria.

Wood is the first Kernel this season to earn MWL weekly honors. Dusty Robinson of Burlington was named the MWL Player of the Week for the same period.

The Kernels begin a nine game road trip tonight in Peoria at 6:35 pm. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Thursday, April 26th to open a nine game home stand with games against South Bend, West Michigan and Beloit.
