Ballpark to be at 126th and Highway 370
Alan Stein, president of the Omaha Royals said, "We fully expected Sarpy County to continue down this path to select the site and toward building the ballpark. Our efforts have been collaborative and have lead us to this very exciting point. We think the Highway 370 property will be a destination for families and the Royals will continue to be an asset for the Omaha metro area."
Roger Langpaul whose family owns the property known as the Schewe (Shçvç) Farms has agreed to donate the 30 acres needed for the ballpark and his firm 360 Real Estate Services, Inc. will develop the rest as a mixed-use area.
The Omaha Royals are in their 41st season in the Omaha metro. Royals paid attendance is up over 200 per cent since the start of the season in April and the team also welcomed their 11 millionth fan on May 28th. Readers of Omaha Magazine voted the Royals as Best Omaha Sports Team in their 2009 edition.
"Our momentum is growing in Omaha and we are looking forward to our partnership with Sarpy County and all of the communities who have shown their enthusiasm for the Royals," said Stein.
