Barons to be Broadcast on JOX AM

February 18, 2010
That Birmingham Barons announced on Wednesday that fans can listen to all 140 Birmingham Barons game in 2010 on WJOX AM 690.

"To be a part of the WJOX family is something that we are very excited about at Regions Park. Their resume speaks for itself, and to pair Birmingham Barons Baseball with WJOX is an ideal fit," Barons General Manager, Jonathan Nelson.

WJOX AM will broadcast all Barons games exclusively in 2010, which will differ from year's past when the Barons shuffled between two different channels depending on the game's start time. In addition, all games will continue to be broadcast via the internet with a link being provided on Barons.com. Curt Bloom will remain in the Barons' radio booth for his 19th season.

"We are excited about the partnership between the WJOX and the Birmingham Barons brands. We look forward to broadcasting the games on AM 690. Jonathan Nelson and the Barons are a first-class organization, and we look forward to a great season of baseball," Citadel Operations Manager, Ryan Haney said.

The Barons had been broadcast on WYDE since 2003 before the move Wednesday.

The Barons will open the 2010 season on Thursday, April 8 when the Carolina Mudcats invade Regions Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.

Season tickets and ticket plans are available over the phone, at Barons.com or by visiting the Joe Drake Ticket Office at Regions Park.
