Buxton keeps providing for Miracle

Byron Buxton is picking up in the Florida State League where he left in the Midwest League.

The Twins' No. 2 prospect legged out an inside-the-park homer in his fifth consecutive multi-hit game Friday night, leading Class A Advanced Fort Myers to a 7-3 triumph over Bradenton.

After going 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs, Buxton is hitting .400 in eight games in the FSL.

Selected second overall in last year's Draft, the 19-year-old outfielder batted .341 with eight homers, 10 triples, 15 doubles, 55 RBIs and 32 stolen bases in 68 games with Class A Cedar Rapids. He finished his Midwest League stint with a triple and single in each of his last two games. Since joining the Miracle on June 25, he has 14 hits, seven RBIs, six runs scored and one steal.

Buxton grounded out in his first two at-bats Friday, but facing Marauders starter Adrian Sampson with a runner on second and two outs in the bottom of the fourth, he ripped a line drive to center field and raced around the bases for his first Florida State League home run.

The Georgia native also singled on a grounder up the middle in the sixth and grounded out again in the eighth.

Buxton has reached safely in all eight games with Fort Myers. Over his last five, he's 12-for-22 with five RBIs and six runs scored.

University of Minnesota product Mike Kvasnicka smacked a pair of two-run homers for the Miracle, giving him six in his last 11 games.

Leadoff man Taylor Lewis was 3-for-4 with a walk, falling a homer shy of the cycle, for the Marauders.
