De La Cruz, Cardinals Walkoff, 4-3

The Palm Beach Cardinals (33-34) came from three runs down to beat the Jupiter Hammerheads (36-28) in dramatic fashion, 4-3.

Cardinals' starter Kyle Hald got off to a rough start, giving three runs in the first frame. Christian Yelich and Taylor Krick opened the contest with back-to-back singles. J.T. Realmuto followed with a groundout, while Mark Canha knocked in the first run with an RBI groundout to third. Then Marcell Ozuna scorched his 24th home run of the season to give the Hammerheads a 3-0 lead.

Ozuna's 24th home run of the season set a new Jupiter record for most home runs in the single season.

Hald finished the game tossing 4 2/3 innings, allowing three runs, scattering nine hits and striking out three. He left the game with the scored tied at the three as the Cardinals made a furious come back.

In the bottom of the first Chris Edmondson doubled with two out and nobody on. Edmondson followed by stealing third base off of Adam Conley. With a runner on third base, Alan Ahmady hit a groundball to the 3-4 hole, but Conley forget to cover the bag to cut the lead to 3-1.

In the fourth, the Cardinals tied it up on four hits and key double play groundout. Alan Ahmady, Cody Stanley and Rainel Rosario connected for back-to-back-to-back singles toload the bases. After a groundball double play by Geoff Klein brought the Cardinals within one, Luis De La Cruz delivered a game-tying RBI single.

With the score knotted up at 3-3, the Cardinals bullpen shut down the Hammerheads bats. Aidan Lucas tossed 2 1/3 scoreless, while Zach Russell pitched two scoreless to pick up the victory.

In the ninth inning the Cardinals ended any bid for extra innings, as they scored on a walk off single by Starlin Rodriguez. De La Cruz started the frame, picking up his fourth hit of the night with a leadoff single. He finished 4-for-4 with an RBI.

On the other side, FSL All Star Christian Yelich finished the night 5-for-5 with a run scored.

The Cardinals continued their four game set tomorrow night, as they host the Jupiter Hammerheads in game three of this four game set.
