Raptors Win Award for Second Straight Week
June 30, 2014

The Pioneer League announced Monday that Ogden Raptors pitcher Jose De Leon was named the league's Pitcher of the Week.

The Puerto Rico native went 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA in two starts against Orem between June 23-29. The right-hander struck out 18 batters in 13.0 innings allowing four runs on 10 hits and three walks.

De Leon struck out a career-high 12 batters in seven innings against Orem at Lindquist Field, allowing just one run in a win.

This is the second straight week the Raptors have a player named Pitcher of the Week. Edinson Bock got the honor for the first week of the season.

The last time the Raptors earned two Pitcher of the Week awards in the same week was 2012 when Kazuki Nishijima, Ross Stripling and Lindsey Caughel won the award.

De Leon's next scheduled start is Thursday at Idaho Falls.

Grand Junction's Renaldo Jenkins was named Player of the Week. He hit .429 in five games with three double, a triple, a home run and three RBI this week.
