Lepler returns for fifth season as 'Voice'
March 29, 2013

The Salem Red Sox are proud to announce that every pitch of the upcoming Carolina League season will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio, AM 1240 WGMN, Roanoke. Evan Lepler returns for his fifth season as the "Voice of the Salem Sox" and will be on the call for all 140 regular season games. The journey kicks off on Fri, April 5, when Salem opens its season on the road against Frederick. The home opener at LewisGale Field is scheduled for Fri, April 12 against Myrtle Beach.

"We are delighted to have the Salem Red Sox return to ESPN Radio 1240 WGMN, Roanoke," said Gary Burns, CEO of the station. "In addition, all home and away games will also be broadcast on 5,000-watt ESPN Radio 1350 in Bedford.

The new Flagship network should offer an excellent signal for fans near and far to tune in and enjoy Salem Red Sox baseball. In addition, every game will also be streamed for free at salemsox.com online. The broadcasts can also be easily accessed by most smart phones.

"Nothing beats seeing a game in person at LewisGale Field, but we are very proud to also have an excellent radio broadcaster and a great new Flagship station," said Salem Red Sox general manager, Todd Stephenson. "Evan delivers a top-notch broadcast night-in, night-out, and we couldn't be happier to have our games now airing on ESPN Radio."

Lepler, a native of Sharon, Mass., rejoins the Red Sox after spending the winter calling High Point University men's basketball in North Carolina. He also did play-by-play for college football on ESPN3 this past fall. Last August, Lepler served as the guest public address announcer for a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park.

Single-game tickets for the entire 2013 season are now available on salemsox.com or by calling 540-389-3333.
