Flashback: September in the NYPL
Sept. 1 -- Joshua Outman allowed just one hit and struck out eight over five innings as Batavia blanked Mahoning Valley, 3-0. It was Outman's first win of the season and just his third start in 10 appearances.
Sept. 3 -- Eduardo Nunez's walk-off single plated James Cooper as Staten Island edged Auburn, 3-2. Josh Schmidt tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win, lowering his ERA to a microscopic 0.30.
Sept. 6 -- Vermont's Francisco Guzman was named Offensive Player of the Week in his first full week as a member of the Expos. The 21-year-old outfielder batted .524 with two homers and five RBIs in six games. Oneonta's Burke Badenhop was the top pitcher after allowing two earned runs on 10 hits over 14 innings in two starts.
Sept. 7 -- Joe Bauserman allowed one run over six innings as Williamsport edged Staten Island, 4-3, to clinch a playoff berth. As the wild card winners, the Crosscutters will play the Yankees in a best-of-three semifinal series.
Sept. 8 -- Francisco Plasencia homered twice and drove in seven runs to lead Vermont to a 15-9 victory over Tri-City on the last day of the regular season. The Expos finished up with a season-high seven-game winning streak.
Sept. 10 -- Brian Bormaster's seventh-inning grand slam capped the scoring in Auburn's 17-4 drubbing of Oneonta in Game 1 of the club's best-of-three first-round series. Nick Thomas and Ryan Patterson also went yard for the Doubledays.
Sept. 10 -- James Conroy and two relievers combined on a five hitter as Staten Island blanked Williamsport, 1-0, in Game 1 of the other NYPL semifinal series. Conroy allowed five hits over 5 1/3 innings while striking out seven.
Sept. 11 -- Auburn pounded Oneonta, 16-5, sweeping the Tigers out of the playoffs. Jacob Butler went 5-for-6 with six RBIs to lead the Doubledays, who scored 33 runs in the two-game series.
Sept. 12 -- Kyle Anson's walk-off blast propelled Staten Island to a 5-3 victory and series sweep of Williamsport in the semifinals. Anson's home run was his first as a professional.

Sept. 14 -- Jay Stephens and four relievers baffled the Doubledays as Staten Island cruised to a 6-1 win in Game 1 of the New York-Penn League Championship Series. Stephens allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings, while Kyle Larsen went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Yankees' offense.
Sept. 15 -- Reggie Corona's walk-off single gave Staten Island a 3-2 victory and sweep of Auburn in the league championship series. Joe Burke led off the bottom of the ninth with a single, advanced on a sacrifice bunt, stole third and scored on Corona's single. It was the Yankees' second title in five years.
