FSL reveals All-Star Game rosters

Threshers contribute seven players to North squad
June 4, 2013

The Florida State League 2013 North and South All-Star Teams were announced today by league president Chuck Murphy. The 52nd All-Star Game will be played at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, home of the Dunedin Blue Jays, on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 7:05 p.m. ET.

The Clearwater Threshers (Phillies) led the way with seven players selected to the North Division squad, including two of the four outfielders. First-place Dunedin contributed four pitchers as well as infielder Andy Burns. The Blue Jays' pitching staff leads the league with a 3.12 team ERA.

In the South, both Jupiter (Marlins) and Fort Myers (Twins) will send five players to the All-Star Game. The Miracle not only lead the FSL in team hitting, scoring and home runs, but also own the best record in the Minor Leagues at 40-16 (.714).

Though both sides feature 23 players, a few top FSL performers are conspicuous by their absence. Eddie Rosario of Fort Myers, the league's leading hitter at .342, did not make the South Division infield. St. Lucie's Travis Taijeron is hitting .313/.405/.582 and ranks second on the circuit in OPS but was shut out of the South Division's outfield.

Since the league switched to a North-South format in 2009, the two divisions have alternated All-Star Game wins with the North prevailing in odd-numbered years and the South winning in 2010 and 2012.
