Gwinnett awards grant for January

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The Gwinnett Braves announced on Feb. 7 that the club has awarded its $1,000 grant for the month of January to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County. The "I Have a Dream" themed grant, aimed at helping organizations that create opportunities for youth, will assist the Boys & Girls Clubs in serving more than 5,500 children across Hall County.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County provide programming targeted toward three areas: academic success, good character, and citizenship and healthy lifestyles. While existing programs have helped numerous children from disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances, the need for more facilities and services in Hall County is critical.

The grant money awarded by the Gwinnett Braves will allow the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County to purchase basic supplies like pencils and paper, as well as more program-specific resources like art supplies, books and computer programs. Grant funds will also be used to purchase games and activities for the Boys & Girls Clubs' game rooms, the central program space where character and citizenship education are demonstrated.
