Hernandez, Swing one-hit Chiefs

Quad Cities starter allows lone single, fans seven in 4-0 shutout

Elvis Hernandez and two relievers combined on a one-hitter as Quad Cities blanked visiting Peoria, 4-0, in the opener of Thursday's doubleheader.

Hernandez (2-0) gave up one hit, walked one and struck out seven over five innings in his first start of the season. Brian Schroeder walked one in the sixth and Kyle Sadlowski fanned two in a perfect seventh as the Swing (3-3) posted their second straight shutout.

Omar Falcon blasted his first homer of the season in the first, a two-run shot, to give Quad Cities the lead. Christian Lopez delivered an RBI double in the second.

Chiefs starter Alberto Alburquerque (0-1) allowed three runs on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts in three innings.

Blake Lalli led off the third with a single for Peoria (3-1).
