HILLCAT HYSTERIA: LYNCHBURG 13-2 OVER POTOMAC

(WOODBRIDGE, VA) - Evan Gattis was 5-for-6 with a home run and a career-high 6 RBIs as the Lynchburg Hillcats pounded out a season-high 20 hits en route to a 13-2 rout of the Potomac Nationals. With the win, Lynchburg has won five of their first six games of the season against Potomac.

Gattis also set a career high with his five hits and drove in at least one run in his first four at bats as Lynchburg scored in seven of the nine innings. Seven Hillcat hitters had multi-hit games as Edward Salcedo, David Rohm, and Kyle Rose each had three hits.

Aaron Northcraft improved to 2-0 with the win going the first six innings allowing two earned runs on five hits and striking out five batters. For the second straight game, the Hillcats scored in the opening half inning and did so with two runs. With two outs, Evan Gattis and Edward Salcedo hit back-to-back RBI doubles to put Lynchburg in front 2-0.

Lynchburg (7-2) pounded out four more runs in the top of the third inning highlighted by a three-run home run by Evan Gattis, his third of the season.

P-Nats starter Matt Grace (1-1) exited after allowing another run in the fourth inning and took the loss. Overall he allowed seven runs with six earned on eleven hits and a walk while striking out three.

Potomac (3-6) got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning with two runs. After Randolph Oduber brought home a run with an RBI single, Brent Greer recorded the P-Nats' second run with an RBI groundout.

The Hillcats tacked on three more runs and put the game out of reach in the top of the fifth. Rose and Gattis had RBI singles for Lynchburg as their lead ballooned to 10-2. Lynchburg tacked on three more runs the rest of the way including a solo home run by Edward Salcedo in the top of the sixth.

Potomac starts a three-game road trip in Frederick with the Keys tomorrow. First pitch is set for 7:00 PM with RHP Matt Swynenberg (1-0, 6.43) taking the hill for Potomac. The Nationals return home for a four game series against the Salem Red Sox starting Thursday April 19th.
