Improvements in Plaza, Concessions, Gift Shop

March 26, 2008
OMAHA, NE - Flames shooting high in the sky off the top of an outfield sign is just one of the many hot new features that Omaha Royals fans will experience when they visit Rosenblatt Stadium this season. For every Royals home run and victory, a pair of 20-foot high flames will leap from the top of the SOS Heating & Cooling sign above the left-center field bleachers.

Just after they enter the stadium's front gates, fans will notice many improvements in the front plaza. The east side of the plaza features MoJo - a teenage and adult-oriented pitching cage where fans will have a chance to win an authentic Kansas City Royals jersey and test their speed via radar gun.

Near MoJo sits Omaha Steaks Grand Slam Grill. There are actually two grills supporting a cart that's 22 feet long and 12 feet high, with four lines of service. Also on the plaza's east side is GazeBAR, where for the first time Rosenblatt Stadium will have a full line of cocktails and specialty beers available in the main concessions area.

For kids, a new T-ball inflatable game will highlight the Coca-Cola Fun Zone, located on the west side of the front plaza. Near that same area, milk shakes and iced coffee will be featured at the Wells Blue Bunny stand.

Fans will be treated to a bevy of new items at Centerplate's concession stands, including Omaha Steaks Sliders, mini-burgers which will be sold at the All-Star Grill on the first base side of the concourse. In the same area, Famous Dave's, which was at the ballpark in 2006, returns in '08. Cabana Smoothies will be sold at 7th Inning Sweets on the third base side of the concourse.

Royal Treasures, the team's gift shop, will feature a wide array of new merchandise highlighted by trendy ladies, youth and toddler apparel.

"Everything the Royals do is with the fans' experience in mind," said Royals President Alan Stein. "All of these new changes will make a visit to the 'Blatt for a Royals game a fun and memorable experience."

As announced previously by the Royals, the U.S. Cellular Home Run Porch, located in the bleachers just to the right of straight-away center field, offers seating for up to 250 fans to enjoy an outdoor picnic while watching a game. And the seats will be covered in Box P and Section P at the far end of the third base side of the grandstand, shrinking the stadium's seating capacity for a large majority of the Royals 72 home games in 2008 to 8,859.

"We are excited for our great fans to enjoy the many new features that are added for the 40th season of "Fun For Everyone" in 2008," said Royals General Manager Martie Cordaro.

The Royals 2008 season opener is set for Rosenblatt Stadium on Thursday, April 3rd at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Albuquerque Isotopes. For tickets, call the Royals ticket office at (402) 738-5100, or order and print tickets online at www.oroyals.com and at www.Etix.com.
