Jarred Cosart Added To FSL North All-Star Team

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Clearwater Threshers pitcher Jarred Cosart has been added to the Florida State League North Division All-Star Team as an injury replacement. Cosart is 6-3 on the year with a 2.83 ERA and will join four teammates for the all-star game to be played on Saturday, June 18 at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.

Cosart, who was just named as the Philadelphia Phillies top minor league pitcher for the month for May, will be making his first professional all-star appearance. Last season, he was selected to play for Team USA in the Major League Baseball Futures Game in Anaheim, Calif. Cosart entered the season ranked as the fourth-best prospect in the Phillies organization by Baseball America.

The League City, Texas native has won his last five decisions heading into the all-star break, including a one-hit, seven-inning performance against Bradenton on May 15. He has fanned nine-hitters on two occasions and has allowed six hits or fewer in 10 of 12 starts.

Cosart will join fellow teammates Julio Rodriguez, Jonathan Pettibone, and Justin Friend on the North Division squad. Battery-mate Sebastian Valle was originally selected to the team but will be sidelined with an injury.

The 50th Annual FSL All-Star Game will start at 7:05 p.m. on June 18 and will feature the Yuengling Home Run Derby at 5:45 p.m. The game will be televised on Bright House Sports Network and fans can catch an online radio broadcast through ThreshersBaseball.com or MiLB.com.
