JAXX SHUTOUT IN SERIES OPENER

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (August 26, 2010) - The Diamond Jaxx (28-32) were shutout for the eighth time this season on Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium. The Montgomery Biscuits (28-32) beat the Jaxx 2-0, in the opener of the four-game series, the final road series of the season. The Jaxx were no hit through the first four innings and did not get a runner to second base until the ninth inning. The Jaxx remain 4 ½ games up on Huntsville with 10 games remaining in the regular season. Huntsville lost to Mobile on Thursday, 3-2.

Jose Ruiz was 4-for-4 with a run to lead the nine-hit attack for Montgomery. Henry Wrigley had two hits and Mike Folli delivered two RBI's for the Biscuits. No Diamond Jaxx hitters had a multi-hit game on Thursday night.

Josh Satow made an emergency start for the Biscuits and tossed four no-hit innings before giving up a hit in the fifth. Satow left after four frames and was not eligible for the decision. Heath Rollins (5-1) got the win for Montgomery by working three scoreless in relief. Dane De La Rosa earned his fourth save of the season with a scoreless eighth and ninth inning. Jarrett Grube (3-5) suffered the loss for the Jaxx, giving up two runs on eight hits. Grube fanned seven and walked just one in 5 2/3 innings on the hill.

Former Cardinals' farmhand, Mike Folli drove in Jose Ruiz and John Matulia with a single in the bottom of the fourth inning. The single with two outs broke the scoreless tie and gave the Biscuits a 2-0 lead. That would be the only tally of the ball game.

The Jaxx and Biscuits continue their series on Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium, with first pitch at 7:05. The Jaxx will send LHP Jimmy Gillheeney (0-0, 8.31) to the hill, while RHP Paul Phillips (5-2, 3.98) toes the rubber for Montgomery.

The Diamond Jaxx will return to Pringles Park on Tuesday, August 31 for the final home stand of the season. The Jaxx will host the Mississippi Braves for three games and Chattanooga for four.
