Jordan Walden to Rehab with Bees

SALT LAKE CITY (August 10, 2012) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that right-handed pitcher Jordan Walden will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake in tonight's road game against the Nashville Sounds.

Walden, 24, was placed on the Disabled List on July 15 with a strained right biceps. In 31 games of relief for the Angels this season, he owns a 2-2 record with a 3.86 ERA, 35 strikeouts and one save. In 62 games for the Angels in 2011, he posted a 5-5 record with a 2.98 ERA, 67 strikeouts and 32 saves.

Walden made a brief previous stint with Salt Lake, appearing in six games of relief for the Bees in 2010 before making his major league debut with the Angels on August 22 at Minnesota. The Fort Worth, Texas native was originally selected by the Angels in the 12th round of the 2006 Draft.
