Legends Caravan continues Wednesday in Richmond & Somerset

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK) Lexington, KY - The Lexington Legends annual radio caravan continues this Wednesday with additional stops planned for Richmond and Somerset and continue in Columbia, February 10 and Jackson February 16.

Legends representatives, including "Big L," and special baseball guests will be on hand to meet with local media and fans. Some Legends souvenir items will be available, and fans will have an opportunity to win ticket vouchers for the Legends' opening home game.

The caravan is designed to show appreciation for radio affiliates, listeners and Legends fans throughout the region. The Legends are members of the South Atlantic League and a class A affiliate of the Houston Astros.

The schedule:

Wednesday, Feb. 9:

Richmond: 1 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. in the Powell Building on the Eastern Kentucky University campus. Legends representatives will be joined by major league umpire and EKU alumnus Sam Holbrook and EKU baseball coach Jason Stein.

Wednesday, Feb. 9:

Somerset: 4 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. at Gold's Gym, 3680 South Hwy. 27

Legends Hall of Famer Josh Anderson will join the caravan for the Somerset stop. Anderson, a native of Eubank in Pulaski County and a former Eastern Kentucky University baseball star, played for the Legends in 2004. He played in only 73 games for Lexington before moving up to Class A (advanced) Salem, but still holds the Legends' record for season and career stolen bases with 48, and is still among the Legends' all-time leaders in several categories. Anderson broke in to the major leagues with the Astros in 2007. He spent most of the 2009 season with the Detroit Tigers before a late-season trade to Kansas City. For the season, he played in 118 games, and stole 25 bases in 30 attempts.

Thursday, Feb. 10:

Columbia: 3:30 - 5 p.m. Central time; Details to come

Wednesday, Feb. 16:

Jackson - 10 a.m. noon, Rose Bros. Dept. Store, 695 Hwy. 15 N. 'Big L' and Legends staffers will be on hand, as will WJSN's "Sportstalk" crew for a live broadcast.

Other guests may be added, and schedules of guests are subject to change.
