April 22, 2009
DAYTON, OH - The Great Lakes Loons captured their third consecutive win Wednesday night, topping the Dayton Dragons 4-3.

With the score tied 2-2 in the sixth inning, Alfredo Silverio singled home two to put the Loons ahead for good.

Great Lakes struck for the game's first two runs in the first off Dayton starter Josh Ravin. Austin Gallagher drove in the game's first run with a double to left. He later scored on a Tony Delmonico ground out.

Dayton pulled to within one run with a Byron Wiley RBI single in the sixth but would get no closer.

Bobby Blevins (1-1) pitched five innings for his first win of the year. Javy Guerra racked up his fourth save of the season with another 1-2-3 ninth inning.

The Loons continue their series in Dayton Thursday night. Right-hander Ethan Martin (2-0, 0.90 ERA) will face Dragons righty Curtis Partch (0-1, 4.82). Martin, the Dodgers' first round draft pick in 2008, is tied for eighth in the league in strikeouts and ninth in ERA.

The game will be carried live on ESPN 100.9-FM.

The Loons return to Dow Diamond Saturday with the first of four against the Fort Wayne TinCaps (11-1), who have lost just one game all season. Tickets are available at Loons.com or by calling 989-837-BALL. The game will be followed by a post-game fireworks show, powered by Dow Corning.
