September 4, 2011
BRADENTON, FL - In just their second season or existence, the Bradenton Marauders, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, drew a total regular season attendance of 103,978 fans in 2011. The number doubles the inaugural season attendance of 51,856.

The Marauders also ranked highly in average attendance across the league, drawing 1,507 fans to McKechnie Field per game this season. Last year's average attendance was 823. The 2011 average was good for seventh best in the 12-team Florida State League. Bradenton was one of seven clubs to eclipse the 100,000 mark overall.

Bradenton also set a single game attendance record this season, hosting 5,684 fans against the Lakeland Flying Tigers July 11th.

"We're blown away at the support that fans in Bradenton and the greater Manatee and Sarasota counties have shown for the Marauders this season," said Pirates Senior Director of Florida Operations Trevor Gooby. "Our players and staff are so appreciative and grateful of the community's support for the team. We're looking forward to another great year in 2012."

There is more baseball left in 2011 though too! The Marauders return to the playoffs for the second time in as many years Tuesday night at McKechnie Field. The Marauders host the St. Lucie Mets in a best of three series, with the second pair of games (game three if necessary) being played on the Treasure Coast. First pitch is set for 7pm Tuesday with 6pm gates opening and 6:45 radio coverage on 1280-AM WTMY.
