January 4, 2013
BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced their Minor League managerial and coaching assignments for the 2012 season. The announcement was made by Larry Broadway, Pirates director of minor league operations.

Frank Kremblas will manage the Marauders in their fourth season in Bradenton. Kremblas is the third manager in the four-year history of the club, succeeding Carlos Garcia, who managed the team in 2011-12 and will manage the Double-A Altoona Curve in 2013.

In 2012, Kremblas held the position of special assistant to Minor League operations for the Pirates. His previous managerial experience includes the Pirates Triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis in 2009-10, as well as stints in the Expos and Brewers organizations. He has also found success as a manager in the Venezuelan Winter League, where he is currently managing the Leones del Caracas.

The Marauders will also have new faces at pitching coach and hitting coach in 2013. Justin Meccage (pronounced "message") will direct the team's pitching staff, while Edgar Varela will tutor the team's hitters. Meccage spent his first two years as a professional coach as the pitching coach for the State College Spikes in 2011-12. Varela is beginning his sixth season with the Pirates. He was the hitting coach for Class A West Virginia in 2012.

Dru Scott returns for a second season as athletic trainer for the Marauders, his fifth overall in the Pirates organization.

The Bradenton Marauders play their first home game of the 2013 season on Fri, April 5 at McKechnie Field. Season tickets are now available with prices starting at $245.
