Mets' Montgomery suspended 50 games

Kingsport right-hander, 20, tested positive for second time

Mets Minor League right-hander Christian Montgomery was suspended 50 games on Tuesday after testing positive for a drug of abuse for a second time.

Montgomery, who has not played this season, will begin serving his suspension at the start of the Appalachian League season with Rookie-level Kingsport.

The 20-year-old was New York's 11th-round pick in the 2011 Draft out of Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, Ind. He debuted last summer and went 0-1 with a 9.39 ERA in two starts for Kingsport.

Montgomery is the 16th player suspennded in 2013 for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
