SALT LAKE CITY (November 29, 2012) - The Salt Lake Bees announced today that the club will host a Major League Baseball (MLB) exhibition game between the Colorado Rockies and Seattle Mariners at Spring Mobile Ballpark on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 1:05 p.m. MT. The game is the first MLB vs. MLB exhibition contest held in Salt Lake since the mid-1960s and marks the first appearance by a major league team in the city since the Salt Lake Buzz faced the Minnesota Twins in an exhibition matchup in 1999.

"Since my father purchased the Salt Lake franchise in 2005, our organization has been committed to offering the Salt Lake community a first-class baseball experience," said Greg Miller, CEO of Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment. "It has been more than 40 years since a Major League Baseball game has been held in Salt Lake City and we're excited to provide this unique opportunity to fans throughout the state of Utah."

Open batting practice times will be announced at a future date.

Replete with All-Stars, Silver Sluggers and Gold Glove winners, both clubs will make their final preparations for the 2013 season at Spring Mobile Ballpark before opening the regular season two days later on April 1. Colorado infielder Troy Tulowitzki is a two-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner, while first baseman Todd Helton is a five-time All-Star and four-time Silver Slugger. Outfielder Carlos Gonzalez earned his first All-Star nod in 2012 and is a two-time Gold Glove winner. Seattle starter Felix Hernandez is a three-time All-Star and a Cy Young Award winner who pitched a perfect game against Tampa Bay on August 15, 2012. Outfielder Franklin Gutierrez earned Gold Glove status in 2010.

In addition, Colorado features two players with Salt Lake ties. Outfielder Michael Cuddyer played for the Salt Lake Buzz during the 2000 postseason and right-handed pitcher Tyler Chatwood made five starts for the Bees in 2010 and 2011, finishing with a 2-2 record.

The Salt Lake Bees will open the 2013 season on Thursday, April 4 for a four-game series against the Tucson Padres followed by four games at home against the 2012 Triple-A Champion Reno Aces. Ticket packages are currently available by calling (801) 325-BASE or visiting slbees.com.
