Norfolk downs Toledo Monday

Chris Waters allowed just two runs on five hits in six innings of work, pitching the Tides to a 5-2 win over Toledo Monday afternoon.

Waters (5-2) worked around five walks in the contest to pick up his third straight victory. He struck out three and threw 59 of his 99 pitches for strikes.

Norfolk broke open the contest with three runs in the third inning, as Justin Christian plated Joey Gathright with an RBI single, Justin Turner drove home a run with a sacrifice fly and Steve Torrealba singled to plate a run.

Torrealba led Norfolk's offensive attack with two hits to help improve the Tides to 9-0 against the IL West this season.

Norfolk and Toledo will square off again Tuesday night, with first pitch slated for 6:30 p.m.
