P-Nats promote Holland to two posts

Sales executive now lead broadcaster, media relations director
November 28, 2012
WOODBRIDGE, Va. -- The Potomac Nationals are proud to announce the promotion of sales executive Bryan Holland to P-Nats' lead radio play-by-play broadcaster and Director of Media Relations.

A product of Elon University (Elon, N.C.), Holland served the P-Nats in group ticket, picnic hospitality and corporate sponsorship sales during the 2012 season after spending four previous campaigns in Minor League Baseball.

"I am incredibly honored to become the raconteur for P-Nats Baseball. When I think of all the great broadcasters who have served this post, being behind the microphone for the Potomac Nationals will be a truly fulfilling opportunity. I can't wait for the 2013 season to be unveiled to our terrific fan base," said Holland.

The native of Elkridge, Md., was a part of the broadcast team for the 2007 Carolina League-champion Frederick Keys (Class A Advanced, Baltimore Orioles) before joining Ripken Baseball's Aberdeen IronBirds (Class A Short-Season, Baltimore Orioles) as a fill-in radio broadcaster and group sales representative for the 2008 season.

In 2009, Holland was named a top-20 collegiate All-American sports broadcaster in the nation by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA).

Following public address announcing duties for Loyola University (Baltimore, Md.) Men's and Women's Basketball, the 25-year-old broadcasting veteran voiced play-by-play for the Outer Banks Daredevils Baseball Club (Kill Devil Hills, N.C.) of the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League on ESPN Radio WYND-FM.

Holland then returned to MiLB with the Hagerstown Suns (Class A, Washington Nationals) as Director of Media Relations/Play-by-play Broadcasting during the 2010 season and through the 2011 slate. Amidst his tenure with Suns Baseball, Holland broadcasted and coordinated media efforts for two former No. 1 overall Major League Baseball Draft picks, Stephen Strasburg (2009) and Bryce Harper (2010).

Entering his fourth season within the Washington Nationals farm system, Holland will serve as the Potomac Nationals' primary media relations contact.

"We are thrilled to have someone of Bryan's caliber as the voice of P-Nats Baseball. Bryan has proven himself versatile in play-by-play and relations with the media, in addition to being adept in our sales initiatives," said Potomac Nationals Vice President and General Manager Josh Olerud.

All Nationals game broadcasts are streamed live via the P-Nats official website, www.potomacnationals.com. For all 140 P-Nats games in 2013, the Potomac Nationals Baseball Network will feature a 15-minute pre- and post-game show to include exclusive interviews, previews, recaps and the latest P-Nats news and notes.

"I am so appreciative of Art Silber, Lani Weiss and Josh Olerud for their confidence in me to disseminate the exploits of the Potomac Nationals' rising stars," said Holland.

"This is such an exciting time to be a part of the Washington Nationals farm system, one of the most talented organizations in baseball. I look forward to carrying on the tradition of keeping our listeners informed and entertained throughout the storytelling of the P-Nats' next chapter."

P-Nats fans will have their first chance to hear Holland on the air during his P-Nats broadcast debut on Opening Night at Pfitzner Stadium on Friday, April 5, as the Nationals begin their 2013 journey with a three-game season-opening series against the defending Carolina League champions, the Lynchburg Hillcats (Atlanta Braves).
