Parker, Reynolds head to Iowa

Parker and Reynolds promoted to AAA-Iowa, Cales and Canzler arrive to Smokies Park

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Class AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, added P David Cales and INF Russ Canzler to the active roster Monday. In a related roster move, P Blake Parker and INF Kyle Reynolds have been promoted to Class AAA Iowa.

Cales joins the team for the first time from Chicago's High-A affiliate, the Daytona Cubs. Cales appeared in 11 games pitching posting a 2-0 record and picking up five saves. In 13.2 innings he posted a 0.66 ERA allowing nine hits, on 10 strikeouts and walking only four. Cales spent the 2009 season Rookie League affiliate, the Mesa Cubs and Low-A affiliate, Boise Hawks. The Cubs acquired Cales in the 24th round of the 2008 amateur draft.

Canzler also joins the Smokies from Daytona. He hit .270 while in Daytona, with two home runs and 14 RBIs. Canzler spent the 2008 campaign with Daytona. The Cubs selected Canzler in the 30th round on the 2004 amateur draft.
