Peralta pitches his way to weekly honor
Peralta, who was rated as the #22 prospect in the Milwaukee minor league system by Baseball America before the season, is the second Timber Rattler to win this award in 2009. Daniel Meadows was named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week on May 11.
The right-hander out of the Dominican Republic struck out seven batters over three shutout innings of relief work at Kane County on May 19 in his first appearance of the week. In a start at Beloit on May 24, Peralta struck out a career high 10 batters, allowed two hits, and did not walk a batter over six innings at Beloit. Peralta was not involved in the decision in either game in which he appeared.
On the season, Peralta is 0-0 with a 3.25 ERA over nine appearances (five starts). He is tied for the team lead in strikeouts with 40 and has walked 10 batters in 36 innings.
Peralta and the Timber Rattlers continue a 12-game road trip tonight at Dayton. The team returns home to Time Warner Cable Field on June 2 to start a 12-game homestand. Tickets are available for Timber Rattler home games at 800-WI-TIMBER or through the team website: www.timberrattlers.com.
