HAGERSTOWN, MD (July 2, 2018) - West Virginia's offense was held to a season-low two hits as Jackson Tetreault turned in a brilliant seven-inning start and Hagerstown's bullpen managed to hang on in a 5-3 win Monday evening at Historic Municipal Stadium.
Tetreault (2-7) tossed seven innings for the second time in his career Monday night, surrendering just two hits and one unearned run while striking out a career-best nine batters and walking none.

West Virginia (7-4, 44-33) struck for its lone run against Tetreault in the opening frame, as Oneil Cruz reached on a fielding error by the third baseman, Cole Freeman, to begin the ballgame. The next batter, Rodolfo Castro, roped a triple into the right-center field gap that scored Cruz and gave the Power a 1-0 edge.
Hagerstown (3-8, 30-49) responded in the home half of the inning, however, as Freeman lofted a fly ball over the head of Lolo Sanchez that he stretched into a triple with one down. Luis Garcia then ripped the first pitch he saw from Gavin Wallace (6-2) into center field to tie the game at one. Garcia would score two batters later on Omar Meregildo's sacrifice fly to push the Suns in front, 2-1.
In the second, Kameron Esthay extended Hagerstown's lead to 3-1 with a solo home run to deep right field, his seventh of the season.
Both teams were held scoreless until the fifth, when Yasel Antuna cracked a lead-off double against Wallace on the first pitch of the inning. After Freeman bunted his way aboard and moved Antuna to third, Garcia lifted a sacrifice fly to center that plated Antuna to make it 4-1 Suns.
In the seventh, Hagerstown tacked on their final run of the game against Wallace, as Armond Upshaw reached on a bunt single to begin the frame before scoring two batters later on Freeman's single to left, putting the Suns ahead 5-1.
Wallace spun seven innings and ceded a career-high nine hits in the loss while striking out one and walking one.
The Power were able to plate two runs in the eighth against Hagerstown reliever Andrew Lee, as the right-hander walked four batters in the frame, uncorked two wild pitches and allowed a sacrifice fly from Cruz that notched the first run of the inning. After Lee was lifted for Sam Held (S, 1) with the bases loaded and two outs, Held hit Deon Stafford with his first pitch to bring in West Virginia's third and final run of the night. However, the next batter, Ben Bengtson, struck out to end the threat.
The Power concludes their four-game series with Hagerstown Tuesday evening, with first pitch from Historic Municipal Stadium set for 7:05 p.m. West Virginia has yet to announce its starter, while Hagerstown counters with lefty Seth Romero (0-1, 4.91 ERA).
