River Cats Rally to Beat Bees Again

June 3, 2011
Sacramento overcame a five run first inning for Salt Lake, as the River Cats rallied for an 8-5 win over the Bees on Thursday night. Sacramento scored two in the first and two more in the third to pull to within one and then tied the game on an unearned run in the seventh. In the eighth, Bees' reliever Bobby Cassevah retired the first two batters before former BYU star Matt Carson extended the inning with a bloop single to right. Eric Sogard reached on an infield single before Shane Peterson drilled a 1-0 pitch from Cassevah (1-2) into the right center field bullpen to put the River Cats in front.

The Bees jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first on a run scoring ground out by Chris Pettit, a two run homer by Jeremy Moore and a two run double by Kevin Richardson. After that inning, Salt Lake managed to come up with just four singles the rest of the game. Efren Navarro had three hits to lead the Bees, while Moore added two hits and two runs batted in.

Before the game, pitcher Brian Lawrence annouced his retirement. He was 2-5, 8.07 after seven starts for the Bees.
