Rodriguez and Rosenbaum Win Weekly Awards

PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of April 16th through April 22nd:

Binghamton Mets second baseman/shortstop Josh Rodriguez has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of April 16th-April 22nd. The 27-year old hit .500 (13-for-26) with two doubles, two home runs, seven RBI, seven runs scored, five walks, two stolen bases and a .808 slugging percentage in seven games last week while helping lead the B-Mets to a 5-2 record. Rodriguez, who is a native of Houston, Texas, reached base in all seven games he played in last week and had four multiple hit games, including going 3-for-3 with a home run, two walks, three RBI and three runs scored in a 7-5 win over Portland on Friday. The 6'0", 185 lb. slugger led all Eastern League players in hits (13), total bases (21) and OPS (1.388) last week. He was also among the weekly leaders in runs scored (7-tied 1st), slugging percentage (.808-2nd), walks (5-tied 2nd), on-base percentage (.581-3rd), batting average (.500-tied 3rd), home runs (2-tied 3rd), extra-base hits (4-tied 3rd), RBI (7-tied 4th) and stolen bases (2-tied 5th). Josh, who has reached base in all but one of the 14 games he has played in with the B-Mets this season, was signed by the New York Mets as a free agent on March 29, 2012. He was originally drafted by Cleveland in the second round of the 2006 draft out of Rice University.

Danny Rosenbaum, a left-handed starting pitcher for the Harrisburg Senators, has been named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of April 16th-April 22nd. The 24-year old made one appearance for the Senators last week and had a record of 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 9.0 innings pitched. Rosenbaum, who is a native of Loveland, Ohio, made his only start of the week on Wednesday against the visiting Altoona Curve and pitched the first complete game in the Eastern League this season while leading the Senators to a 7-1 victory. He retired 13 straight batters after surrendering a bunt single with one out in the top of the third inning and went on to allow just one unearned run on four hits while recording nine strikeouts, including striking out four of the final seven batters he faced. The 6'1", 210 lb. hurler has made three starts for the Senators this season and has a record of 2-0 with a 1.25 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 21.2 innings pitched. He has not yet issued a walk this season and currently has a league-best 0.65 WHIP. Danny was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 22nd round of the 2009 draft after posting a record 5-5 with 77 strikeouts and a 5.28 ERA over 88.2 innings pitched during his junior season at Xavier University.
