Sano's slam runs Miracle streak to 12

It didn't take a miracle on Tuesday, just Miguel Sano.

The Twins' top prospect delivered again in a clutch situation, hitting a go-ahead grand slam in the seventh inning to help the Fort Myers Miracle improve to 12-0 with a 7-4 victory over the Palm Beach Cardinals.

The 12-game winning streak equals the longest in team history -- the Miracle also reeled off a dozen consecutive wins in 1995 and 2007. Fort Myers -- all Miracle puns aside -- remains the only undefeated team in professional baseball.

Sano, whose go-ahead three-run shot on Sunday gave Fort Myers its 10th straight win, struck again with the Twins' Florida State League affiliate trailing, 4-3, in the seventh. He sent his fourth homer of year to left field and put Cole Johnson in line for the save.

Sano has 19 hits and 12 RBIs in 12 games in his Class A Advanced debut. An MiLB.com All-Star last year, Sano hit .258 with 28 homers, 100 RBIs and a .373 on-base percentage with Class A Beloit last year. The 19-year-old entered this season as MLB.com's No. 12 overall prospect.

"[Sano's] talent level is obviously through the roof," Miracle first-year manager Doug Mientkiewicz said on Sunday. "He's a unique, special player. There are times I have to almost stop myself to remember that he's only 19 years old. He's definitely a very polished hitter. He's a dangerous hitter."

On Tuesday, Fort Myers scored twice in the second and third innings on similar plays -- Matt Koch and Adam Pettersen hit leadoff doubles and came home on a double plays -- before Stephen Wickens added an RBI triple in the fourth.

The Cardinals jumped in front in the top of the seventh on James Ramsey's RBI single, but Sano, who already had singled to extend his hitting streak to 10 games, responded with his third homer in six games.

Jason Wheeler started for the Miracle and allowed three runs on five hits and four walks over six frames, striking out four. Tim Wood (1-0) pitched the sixth and picked up the win in a rehab appearance and Johnson struck out two over the final two innings for his first save.
