Sea Dogs host Family Literacy Day

July 14, 2007
PORTLAND, Maine -- The Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have teamed with the Literacy Volunteers of Maine to host Family Literacy Day at the ballpark on Sunday, July 15.

The day will be highlighted by a book giveaway. The Sea Dogs take on the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins) at 1 p.m., with gates opening at 11:30 a.m.

"Quidditch Through The Ages" by Kennilworthy Whisp will be distributed free to the first 1,000 families to enter the ballpark. Over two dozen books will contain special surprise coupons either to the July 20-21 Mugglefest Portland 2007: A Celebration of the World of Harry Potter, vouchers for the new Harry Potter book (set for July release) from Books, Etc., or coupons for the Sept. 20 Portland gala benefit Turning a New Page: Celebrating Adult Literacy in Maine.
