Tides rally falls short Thursday

Norfolk rallied from an early deficit but fell to Indianapolis 9-7 Thursday night.

Trailing 6-0 after three innings, Norfolk plated four runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to take a 7-6 lead, but the Indians tallied the final three runs of the contest to give Norfolk the loss.

Jeff Fiorentino, Jolbert Cabrera, Chad Moeller and Brandon Pinckney all had two hits apiece for the Tides, with Pinckney adding a season-high three runs batted in.

Chris Ray (0-1) suffered his first loss for the Tides after surrendering two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Norfolk and Indianapolis will continue their four-game series on Friday night, with first pitch slated for 7:15.
