Triple-A All-Star umpires announced

The Pacific Coast League's Tripp Gibson and Chris Segal, and the International League's Chad Whitson and Brad Myers have been selected as the umpires for the 26th annual Triple-A All-Star Game, to be held at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nevada on Wednesday, July 17, Triple-A Baseball officials announced today.

Tripp Gibson, a resident of Marysville, Washington, will be behind the plate. Gibson is currently in his third season in Triple-A Baseball and eighth season overall as a professional umpire. He has served several assignments before joining the Pacific Coast League including the Gulf Coast, New York-Penn, Florida Instructional, South Atlantic, California, Florida State, Eastern, Arizona Instructional and Southern Leagues. He has also been selected to work in the Arizona Fall League as well as MLB Spring Training in each of the last two years.

First base umpire Chad Whitson has served three-plus years in the International League. Over the last nine years, Whitson has made stops in the Gulf Coast, Appalachian, South Atlantic, California, Eastern, Arizona Instructional, and Arizona Fall Leagues. He has also worked games during MLB Spring training the last two seasons. Whitson currently resides in Dublin, Ohio.

The second base umpire will be the Pacific Coast League's Chris Segal. Segal is in his eighth year as a professional umpire and third year at the Triple-A level. The Burke, Virginia native has spent time in the Gulf Coast, Appalachian, South Atlantic, Florida Instructional, Carolina, Texas, Arizona Instructional, Southern, and Dominican Republic Leagues. He has also umpired for the Arizona Fall League, the World Baseball Classic and MLB Spring Training.

Brad Meyers of the International League will be making the calls at third base. He is in his third year as an umpire in the IL and 10th overall. His resume includes service with the Gulf Coast, Florida Instructional, New York-Penn, Midwest, Florida State, Texas, and Arizona Instructional Leagues. The Holland, Ohio resident was also selected for a Major League Spring Training assignment earlier this year.

The Dolan Auto Group Triple-A All-Star Game, presented by Gildan, Reno-Tahoe USA and Harrah's Reno, will be broadcast live from Aces Ballpark on Wednesday, July 17 on MLB Network and streamed online at MiLB.TV.

The All-Star Game festivities in Reno will include the All-Star FanFest presented by Reno-Tahoe USA, held Friday, July 12 - Sunday, July 14, the annual Triple-A Home Run Derby on Monday, July 15 and the Triple-A All-Star Luncheon featuring John Smoltz on July 17.
