Triple-A roundup: Cloyd blanks Tribe

Eldred hits IL-best 16th homer; Miller hurls six shutout innings

Tyler Cloyd allowed three hits over six innings to lower his International League ERA to 0.69 ERA and pitch Lehigh Valley to a 4-0 blanking of visiting Indianapolis. Rich Thompson fell a homer shy of the cycle and Tim Kennelly slugged a two-run shot in his Triple-A debut for the IronPigs.

Brad Eldred hit his IL-leading 16th homer, a three-run shot off Yankees No. 2 prospect Dellin Betances, as Toledo defeated Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 8-2. Quintin Berry also had three RBIs for the Mud Hens, while Betances ended up allowing three runs on five hits and six walks over 3 2/3 innings.

Yunesky Maya gave up one run and scattered seven hits over 6 2/3 innings for his third win as Syracuse shut down Columbus, 5-1. Xavier Paul continued his hot hitting for the Chiefs with a homer, double and three RBIs, while Corey Brown launched a two-run shot. Matt Pagnozzi drove in the Clippers' lone run.

Todd Redmond gave up seven hits and struck out four over six scoreless innings as Gwinnett posted a 6-1 road win over Buffalo. Stefan Gartrell cranked a two-run homer and Drew Sutton went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Braves. Fred Lewis had two hits and scored the Bisons' lone run.

Sean Burroughs doubled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as Rochester rallied for a 5-4 win over visiting Louisville. Wilkin Ramirez had two hits, an RBI and a run scored in his Triple-A season debut for the Red Wings. Bill Rhinehart hit a solo homer in a losing cause.

Red Sox No. 11 prospect Jose Iglesias had three hits, including his first homer of the season, and scored twice as Pawtucket spoiled the 2012 debut of Hideki Matsui with an 8-2 win at Durham. Josh Kroeger also homered, doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored twice for the PawSox. Matt Mangini and Leslie Anderson homered for the Bulls.

Cardinals top prospect Shelby Miller allowed three hits over six innings for his fourth straight win as Memphis blanked visiting Colorado Springs, 6-0. Cards No. 8 prospect Matt Adams ripped a three-run homer to cap the Redbirds' six-run fifth inning. Matt McBride doubled and singled for the Sky Sox.

A's No. 6 prospect Grant Green and Adam Rosales drove in three runs apiece to lead Sacramento to a 9-4 triumph over Iowa. Bruce Billings allowed two runs on three hits while fanning six over six innings for the River Cats. Cubs top prospect Anthony Rizzo connected for his Pacific Coast League-leading 13th homer and fell a double shy of the cycle for the I-Cubs.

Ryan Spilborghs collected three hits and two RBIs and Julio Borbon went 3-for-6 with three runs scored in Round Rock's 11-3 romp at Tacoma. Luis Hernandez contributed two hits, two RBIs and a pair of runs scored for the Express. Trayvon Robinson hit a two-run homer for the Rainiers.

Nick Noonan's two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning pushed Fresno past Omaha, 6-4. Noonan finished with three RBIs, while Roger Kieschnick homered and scored twice for the Grizzlies. Clint Robinson was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs for the Storm Chasers.

Eric Hurley gave up a run on two hits over seven innings as Salt Lake topped visiting Albuquerque, 4-1. Paul McAnulty homered and collected three RBIs for the Bees, while Tyler Henson supplied the Isotopes' offense with his second homer of the season.

Scott Cousins' two-run homer highlighted a four-run fifth inning that sent New Orleans to a 5-2 victory over visiting Las Vegas. Chris Aguila had two hits and scored twice for the Zephyrs, while Travis Snider slugged a solo homer for the 51s.

Mike Hessman homered twice and drove in five runs to power Oklahoma City to a 7-4 triumph over Tucson. Scott Moore and Brad Snyder also went deep for the RedHawks, while Sawyer Carroll had two hits and two RBIs for the Padres.

Andy Gonzalez had three hits, including a two-run single that capped a four-run eighth inning, as Nashville outslugged Reno, 9-7. Corey Patterson chipped in two hits, an RBI and three runs scored for the Sounds, while Jake Elmore collected three hits and drove in three runs for the Aces.
