VBSV to host USF football camp again
"We are pleased the USF football team has decided to return to Vero Beach Sports Village this summer," MiLB president, Pat O'Conner, said. "We look forward to hosting coach Holtz and the Bulls as they conduct another productive training camp and build the foundation for a successful 2011 season."
"We're really excited about the opportunity to return to Vero Beach for camp," coach Holtz stated. "The people involved with the Vero Beach Sports Village were unbelievable hosts and did a great job for us last year, and we can't wait to get back there. We made a lot of progress last year, and not just on the field.
"Vero was the place we began building the team atmosphere and camaraderie we needed. The distractions are limited, and we can really focus on the things we need to do to get better as a football team. I know the staff and players are excited about going back."
VBSV has five full-sized baseball fields, including Holman Stadium, which can be converted to football ones. In addition to Holman, fields 1 and 2 will also have lights on them by the time the Big East Conference Bulls conduct their camp from Aug. 7-18.
The all-inclusive, 67-acre sports and conference center consists of 89 hotel-style villas, two weight rooms, a training room and hydrotherapy area, and a conference center with more than 14,000 square feet of meeting room space where the Bulls can meet as a team, or in groups by position.
The facility also contains a full-service or cafeteria style dining facility with the ability to customize menus, a lounge, a competition-size swimming pool, a basketball court and tennis courts.
Last year, the Bulls utilized all of VBSV's amenities to hold an Olympic-style competition to build team unity and camaraderie during their stay.
