September 15, 2011
GREAT FALLS, MONT. - The Great Falls Voyagers beat the Ogden Raptors 7-1 Thursday night at Centene Stadium to clinch the Pioneer League Championship, two games to none.

O'Koyea Dickson doubled home Joc Pederson in the first to take a 1-0 lead, but the lead didn't last long. With one out in the bottom of the first, David Herbek was hit by a pitch and moved to third on a single by Kevan Smith. Two batters later, Michael Earley singled home Herbek to tie the game 1-1.

The Voyagers took the lead in the second. Kyle Eveland walked to start the inning. Randall Thorpe then dropped down a bunt for a single. Joe De Pinto then also bunted for a hit. Jeff Hunt's throw to first went off of Scott Wingo's glove for an error on the play, allowing Eveland to score and putting runners on the corners. As Herbek struck out, De Pinto stole second and Thorpe stole home to put the Voyagers ahead 3-1.

Great Falls starter Blair Walters earned the win Thursday. The Pioneer League Pitcher of the Year pitched six innings and allowed just one run on four hits striking out seven.

Chris Devenski and Cody Winarski closed out the game, combining for three shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out four.
