Zephyrs rally with two in ninth to win

Klosterman's two-out, two-run single provides winning runs
April 14, 2010
Ryan Klosterman's bases-loaded single with two out in the top of the ninth scored the tying and go-ahead runs as the New Orleans Zephyrs rallied to defeat the Albuquerque Isotopes 8-7 on Tuesday.

After letting a 6-3 lead slip away in the bottom of the eighth, the Z's responded by putting runners at the corners with one out against Isotopes closer Jon Link. Alejandro Machado hit a one-hopper back to Link that could have been a game-ending double play, but Link opted to get lead runner Scott Cousins at third base, keeping the Zephyrs' hopes alive.

After Brad Davis loaded the bases with an infield single, Klosterman lined a single up the middle to score two runs, giving the Z's the first win in their last 10 attempts at Isotopes Park.

Scott Strickland recorded the final two outs in the eighth inning, then set down the Isotopes in order in the ninth to pick up the win.

The Zephyrs carried a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth before starter Ryan Tucker tired, as Albuquerque scored twice to take the lead. New Orleans came back with three in the seventh on back-to-back homers by Donnie Murphy and Logan Morrison.

The Z's would extend the lead to 6-3 in the eighth on a two-run blast by Bryan Petersen before Albuquerque rallied with four in the bottom half to claim the lead. Former Zephyr John Lindsey had an RBI single and scored in the Isotopes rally.
