March 31, 2010

New Orleans Zephyrs pitchers held the Buffalo Bisons to just four hits in a 1-1 tie at Port St. Lucie, Fla. on Wednesday.

Hunter Jones, Chris Leroux, Taylor Tankersley and Brett Sinkbeil combined on the four-hitter, with the only big blow coming in the second inning on a leadoff home run by Mike Cervenak.

After three strong innings by Jones, Leroux followed by retiring all six batters he faced, including two by strikeout.

Tankersley added two hitless innings, and Sinkbeil yielded one hit in two innings.

The Zephyrs outhit the Bisons 7-4, but stranded six baserunners. Jai Miller and Logan Morrison chipped in two hits apiece, while Jason Lane came around to score the lone Z's run in the second inning on an RBI groundout by Jason Delaney.

The Zephyrs have three games remaining on their spring training schedule, starting with Thursday's tilt against the Memphis Redbirds in Jupiter.
