Modesto, CA. - Every starter had a hit for the Modesto Nuts in their 11-5 defeat of the Stockton Ports in game two of the Divisional Finals at John Thurman Field setting up a chance for the sweep in game three on Friday.
It started in the first when the Nuts (2-0) plated four runs against Ports' (0-2) starter Brandon Bailey (L, 0-1). Joey Curletta drove in the first of his three runs with a RBI single. Curletta finished 3-for-5. Joe DeCarlo delivered a RBI single, the first of his two hits. Joe Rizzo capped the scoring with a two-run single.
Bailey was knocked out after just two innings allowing five runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
Spencer Herrmann started for the Nuts and allowed three runs on six hits in four innings of work. Seth Frankoff (W, 1-0) followed and worked two scoreless innings with three strikeouts and just an infield single.
Kyle Lewis smacked a RBI single in the fourth. He recorded a single in the fifth and whacked a two-run homer in the seventh. Eric Filia went 2-for-5 with a run. Jordan Cowan reached four times with a RBI and two runs scored.
